Land like a local

At the Airport, Keep It Simple

A few small habits make the first hour painless, whichever way you head into town.

Skip the touts
Ignore anyone offering a taxi as you exit customs. Walk to the official taxi stand or your ride-hailing pick-up point instead.
Carry small cash
Draw a little baht from an airport ATM for tolls and the taxi surcharge, and keep your large notes for later.
Get a SIM on arrival
AIS, TrueMove, and dtac booths in the arrivals hall sell tourist data SIMs in minutes, so you land already connected.
Between the two Bangkok airports
Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang sit about an hour apart. A free shuttle runs for connecting passengers with a boarding pass; otherwise use Grab or a taxi.
