Privacy Policy
The short version: there are no accounts, no newsletter and nothing to buy here, so there is very little of you to collect. What follows is the longer version, in plain English.

The basics
What This Site Collects
Analytics
Pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, which site or search sent you, and what kind of device you used. This arrives through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, and it is reported to me in aggregate. I use it to see which guides people actually read.
Server logs
The hosting provider records requests, including IP addresses, as any web server does. These are kept for security and troubleshooting, not for building a profile of you.
Nothing else
There are no accounts, no sign-in, no comment box and no payments. Some pages offer an email signup for new guides: if you use it, I hold the address you give me, use it only to send those guides, and delete it when you unsubscribe. If you email me instead, I have your address because you sent it, and I keep the thread until it is clearly finished.
Links and money
Outbound Links and Commissions
Some links point to booking sites, hotels and tour operators. A few may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you, and it never changes what gets recommended. The fuller version of that promise is on the About page.
Once you follow a link off this site you are on someone else’s property, under their privacy policy, not this one.
Your rights
Your Rights, and How to Use Them
Access and deletion
You can ask what I hold about you and ask me to delete it. In practice this is usually an email thread, because that is the only place your name would appear.
Analytics data
Analytics data is aggregated and not tied to your name, so I cannot pull out the history of a single visitor. Blocking the cookies stops the collection at your end.
EU, UK and California
The rights those laws give you apply here: access, correction, deletion, and objecting to processing. Email me and I will handle it rather than send you through a portal.
Children
This is a travel guide for adults planning trips. It is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes and contact
If This Policy Changes
If the site ever adds a form, an account system or anything that collects more than it does today, this page gets updated first and the date at the top changes with it.
