Terms of Use

The short version: this is one traveler writing down what she has learned, offered in good faith and free of charge. Read it, use it, and still check anything that matters before you pay for it.

The nature of the thing

What This Guide Is, and Is Not

It is a personal guide
Everything here comes from my own visits and my own judgment, described on the About page and in how we research. It is a well-informed opinion, not an official source.
It is not professional advice
Nothing here is legal, medical, financial, immigration or insurance advice. Visa rules, vaccination requirements and border policies change without notice, and only the relevant government or a qualified professional can tell you what applies to you.
It is not a booking service
You cannot buy anything here. Where a page points you at a hotel, tour or transport operator, your contract is with them, on their terms, and any complaint belongs with them too.
Accuracy

Everything Here Has a Shelf Life

Prices, opening hours, ferry schedules, park fees and entry rules move constantly, and some of them move seasonally. Numbers on this site are typical cases from a particular visit, not quotes, and they are not promises.

Recheck anything time-sensitive or expensive with the operator before you commit. If you find something out of date, telling me is genuinely welcome: there is an email address at the end of the About page.

Where responsibility sits

Your Trip Is Yours

Decisions
You decide where to go, what to eat, which boat to board and which animal to get near. Reading it here does not make it safe for you, on your day, in your condition, in that weather.
Paperwork and cover
Passports, visas, entry cards, vaccinations and travel insurance are yours to sort out and yours to verify. The guide will tell you what to look into. It cannot tell you that you are cleared to travel.
Local law
Thai law applies to you while you are there, including the parts that surprise visitors. The laws and legal basics page is an introduction, not a defense.
Risk
Swimming, diving, riding motorbikes, trekking and drinking all carry risk that no guide can remove. Use your own judgment, and follow the people who are actually there with you.
The plain limit

What I Cannot Take On

This guide is provided as it is, without warranty, and it is free. I cannot accept liability for loss, cost, injury or disappointment that follows from using it, whether that is a missed ferry, a closed temple, a bill higher than the figure on the page, or a trip that simply did not go the way you hoped.

If these terms change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the site is how you accept the current version.
